Congratulations! Take a bow; you deserve it. You’ve officially made it to your last semester of high school. Your days of AP classes, pep rallies, Friday night football games, banquets, study guides, and the rest of your “lasts” are coming to an end. It is very scary, trust me. You are being forced to jump out of the nest and leave behind everything you have worked so hard to accomplish. It’s easy to understand how stressed you are, but I’m here to say more things better are to come. But as your last couple of months are coming to a close, I encourage you to cherish them. Yes, you’re tired of the schoolwork and you’re more concerned about going hunting and skipping class. But just for a minute, forget about all the wonderful things in the future and cherish the now.

Furthermore, participate in senior week, go the dances, participate in farm day for FFA, and don’t miss out on the pep rallies. Just take part in every activity no matter what it is. I promise you’ll be happy you did it in the future. Even after being in college for a little while, I have realized how many things I have taken for granted. Just love every minute and don’t let anyone bring you down. I complained too much about schoolwork, worried too much about grades, stressed too much about college, stressed about childish people, didn’t tell my friends how much I loved them, and spent too little time with my family. I wanted to be done with the math work and just be enjoying the sun with my friends. Time flies.

I’m not saying this is the end, but there are better things awaiting in the future. It’s a time you should take advantage of. So, enjoy the last moments with your classmates. It is very true that we all go in different directions and that this may be the last time you see everyone. Soak it all up!! Once summer comes I urge you to keep in touch with the people you want to keep in your life. But on that note, don’t fight for the people who don’t put effort in. Those who want to be in your life will. I urge you to always keep God first through this process.

So, I leave you with this, look back on your 12 years of school cherish the positives and forget the negatives. Be thankful for the friendships you’ve made, the organization that changed your life, the opportunities you have been given, the lessons you have learned, the friends you have lost, and the memories you’ll never forget. These elementary, middle, and high school years have shaped you into the person you are today. Take everything in while you can before it’s gone. Then, enjoy the rest of your time as a high school senior and get ready for everything that is about to unfold right in front of you. Praying for all of you.

Xoxo,

Destiny Massengill
