Many Consider the season of spring the most peaceful time of the year. Not, really thanks to the pollen and allergies, but let’s be positive. For college students, however the first few weeks before summer break can be the most stressful. As final exams linger, students pull all-nighters and cram in all semester material in just a few days. It’s the time that you find yourself at the library and even having multiple breakdowns during the day. I however, have realized that high school was a blessing. College is a whole new level of learning patience and time management.
It’s hard to believe that my second semester as a college student is coming to an end. It seems like it was only yesterday that I sat in my first college class and took my first test. Finals can bring higher levels of stress than any other time during the year. There are several things we should keep in mind when finals week is here. First, when we take our finals we should be confident and as prepared as possible. Furthermore, here are some tips to help you manage stress better.
First, make sure to get enough sleep. Though, it may seem logical to pull all-nighters, in reality it makes you stress more and not be able to concentrate like you need too. Second, relying on coffee is good and bad to get you through a final. The good is if coffee keeps you pumped up and ready to go it can give you the energy you may need to push you to the next exam. The bad it may overwhelm your body if you have too much caffeine and leaving you feeling jittery and unable to maintain focus for the time it takes you to study or take your exam. Next, you should remind yourself that it is ok to take study breaks. Cardio or exercise can be a good way to relieve stress. For example, taking your dog for a walk or taking a jog will leave you feeling refreshed when you come back to studying.
Also, everyone has a specific study type. It is important to know what type of studier you are. I am and read and writer studier, which means that I study well by using flashcards and reading over my notes and looking at examples. I think one of the most important things when taking a test that you breathe and relax. Finally, thinking about the feeling that you will have after you have completed your test and have done your best this will leave you feeling successful. This is an amazing way to encourage yourself to keep studying and for you to do your best. Drinking water and grabbing a piece of gum can also be helpful Next, remember to pray and go to God when you need a little more encouragement. My favorite verse is “When you walk through deep waters, I will be with you”. Isaiah 43:2. God will give you peace if you allow him. I hope that you guys have a great end of the semester!!!
Love Always,
